I would like to use Speak&Win® resp. RealSpeak&Win with a screenreader; what do I need to configure?

Speak&Win® and RealSpeak&Win with software copy protection(Everlock)

Question :

Is it possible to use Speak&Win® with Everlock on Windows NT / 2000 / XP machines?

Answer :

No - the software copy protection only works on Win 95 / 98 / ME machines.

Question :

I own a Speak&Win® resp. RealSpeak&Win license. I would like to obtain another voice / language - is this possible?

Answer :

Yes, it is even possible to combine voices and languages among both products.

Question :

I want to uninstall Speak&Win® - how can I transfer the software copy protection (Everlock key) back to the floppy disk?

Answer :

The installation floppy disk contains a software tool for this purpose. For the following instructions, it is assumed that the floppy disk is inserted in drive A: and that Windows is installed in the directory C:\WINDOWS. If this is not the case on your system, make sure, you adjust the necessary values in the below instructions.
  1. Click on "Run..." in the Windows start menu.
  2. In the prompting window, enter: A:\EVMOVE C:\WINDOWS\ A:\
  3. Confirm the upcoming confirmation request by typing Y
  4. If no error message is displayed, the key has been transferred to the floppy disk successfully.

Speak&Win® and RealSpeak&Win with hardware copy protection (Dongle)

Question :

Can I choose between a dongle for the parallel port and for a USB port?

Answer :

Yes - both options are available. When ordering, please indicate the desired type of protection key. If you already own Speak&Win® or RealSpeak&Win and you would like to use a different protection key type, please contact sales.

Question :

After installing Speak&Win® on Windows 2000 / XP, the TTS engine does not work (although I installed the dongle drivers) - what can I do?

Solution :

Copy both files contained in the directory DISKS\WINDOWS2000 on your Speak&Win® installation CD into the Windows directory on your hard disk. Already existing files are to be overwritten.
